Bruce Shropshire [Basketball '17]

Bruce Shropshire grew up with a basketball in his hand. His first basketball goal was a bushel basket that he nailed to a tree. During his high school years, Shropshire played basketball and football, he was All-Conference in both sports his senior year.

Upon graduation he attended Connors State College to play basketball, where he met his wife, Shirley Pearson. Later Shropshire went on to Northeastern State University and received a Bachelor’s degree in education in 1969.

Shropshire began his first job in Eufaula where he taught English, and was an assistant football and basketball coach; working with two of the coaches whom he played for during his high school years.

In 1976, Shropshire purchased My Place Bar-B-Q West, and is a part owner of Cornerstone Funeral Home in Muskogee. He has two daughters, Angie and Amy, and seven grandchildren.

Shropshire credits all to his lord and savior Jesus Christ, and is thankful for his loving Christian family that support him.
